About Me

My name is Christina Peniche and this is my first quarter in the Masters program and my second year at Cal Poly.  This summer I just completed the Multiple Subject Credential program. I would like to teach in the upper grades.  I received my bachelors in Child and Adolescence Development from California State University, Fullerton in 2009, and I received two Associates in Social Behavior Sciences and Sports Broadcasting from Mount San Antonio College in 2007.  My personal interests include attending three different young adult bible studies in San Gabriel, Diamond Bar, and Chino.  I enjoy learning, and covering deeper understanding of God's word from different books of the bible. I'm also a huge sports fan and I like to attend a variety of sporting events throughout the year.  Since it's football season I cheer for the Cincinnati Bengals, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

It has been amazing seeing in my lifetime how much technology has change with every year their is some new gadget, phone, or programs that is faster, and more advance. I remember in elementary our school had Macintosh Apple Computer and to save your work, or play a game you had to use those big floppy disk with a hole in the middle. Now I see students in elementary school using Apple Computers and saving their work on a USB flash drive, or playing games on iPad or iPhone by just clicking on an application. With every year I'm getting older the more I've become adapted of using technology in my personal and professional life. At the elementary school that I worked at in Fullerton our after school program was the only after school program in the nation that has been recognize and awarded as an Apple Distinguished Programs for the past two years. In our program we implementing iPod and iPad touch devices by using selected applications during instruction for students to show improvement and growth in reading fluency and comprehension. By working with and and using a variety of technologies it had has made me more award of the benefit of using and having technology in our schools, and having students meet and master personal learning goals by using technology to assist them.

I'm working on my Masters of Education Multimedia because school districts are transitioning into using technology in their classroom were every student is using an iPad, or laptop for every instructional subjects. I want to be the teacher that is always current and updated with newest technologies and using a variety of programs to enrich my students learning abilities and meeting their learning goals. When I finish the program I want school districts to see that I'm a 21st century teacher that I can incorporate technology in the classroom as well as teaching to the common core standards. Eventually, in my career I would like to become a principal and work my way to become a superintendent. By the time I'll be in administration it will be within the next twenty years and who knows where technology will be.  Regardless of where the technology will be by being in this masters programs I'll have the foundations to some day leading a school, or many schools to incorporate and apply a variety of technology programs, and have students become successful and prosper in their education.
